Members of the Rotorua Climbing Club regularly compete in climbing competitions at a regional and national level.  In the past we have members who have represented New Zealand at the IFSC World Youth Championships.

Regional Competitions starting this weekend

The Rotorua Climbing Club, in conjunction with The Wall and Basement Cinema, is hosting the first round of the Central North Island regional series this sunday (13 Feb). Registration is from 8:30-9:00am with climbing starting at 9:15am.

Open to all, the regional events are a great introduction to competition climbing with an emphasis on fun and participation. Almost all climbs are on top rope, so anyone can give it a go.

Club Nights to Start on February 24th

The Rotorua Climbing Club will be running Club Nights on the last Thursday of each month, starting from February 24th at 7:00 pm

These club nights are intended to be an fun introduction to the club for new members, and to allow them to meet other climbers.  All welcome.

 

The Wall is also  offering discounted climbing on club nights for members who are not members of The Wall, as well as free gear hire for Climbing Club members.

Two New Zealand Reps for Rotorua Climbing Club

Congratulations to Alex Jones and Tayla Atkin who have been selected for the New Zealand Junior Team named on 29 April.  Alex and Tayla will compete at the World Youth Championships to be held in Edinburgh, Scotland during September.

2010 National Cup Series comes to Rotorua

The Rotorua Climbing Club, in conjuction with The Wall, will be hosting the Second Round of the Climbing NZ 2010 National Cup Series over the weekend of 22/23 May. 

All grades from Youth D (Under 12) up to Open, and Masters (Over 35) will be competing.

2010 Regional Competitions

Regional Competitions are held every year in the Bay of Plenty/Waikato/King Country regions.  Currently the regional competitions include events in Rotorua, Mount Maunganui, Taupo, Turangi and Hamilton.  Regional Competitions are all about fun and participation, and are a good introduction to competitive climbing in a relaxed environment.
