About the Rotorua Climbing Club

The Rotorua Climbing Club was formed in 2004, originally to support competitive climbers in Rotorua and surround districts.  Although this is still a major focus of the club, the club goals have broadened and a brief overview of club activities is as follows:

  • Source funding for competitive climbers
  • Arrange (in conjunction with The Wall) training for members
  • Run outdoor trips to various crags around the Central North Island
  • Source and provide climbing equipment for use by members

The Rotorua Climbing Club is affiliated to Climbing New Zealand and members regularly compete in National Competitions.  Currently, the clubs membership includes past and present National Champions, Oceania Champions and National Cup holders.  For a small club, the Rotorua Climbing Club has had a lot of success in competitions, with a number of previous members representing New Zealand at the World Youth Championships.
